Is anyone else as overwhelmed by the sheer number of new shows airing as I am? I’ve checked out the raws for a bunch of the ones that have started so far, and I have to say that Higurashi is the first one whose OP really grabbed my attention. The song is wonderfully done. (I’m with BluWacky - meloves the chanty stuff! I think I replayed it three or four times before I watched the actual episode)

As for the episode itself, the sounds of the clubbing were really realistic and made me cringe and nearly feel sick to my stomach.
Rena’s voice and hair bugged me. I’m hoping I’ll get used to her because I love a good murder mystery. All the brightly coloured hair doesn’t seem to fit with a horror series, but I’ll get over it as long as the story is really good. I found that the sunset/dusk scenes were better looking than the daytime ones.
I’m a sucker for a great OP, which is why I’ll be checking out more of this series as the tone of the episode itself didn’t seem to fit in with that of the first few seconds (before the OP). That is, until the very end, when Rena was walking around like a murderous psychopath.
I can’t say much about what was said between the characters since I don’t know a lick of Japanese. Please, please, Ayu don’t be too slow in subbing so that I can properly watch/blog this.
ED is ok as far as the song goes. It’s pretty sounding, but it would’ve been better in Japanese. The imagery however, is artistic and beautiful.

Hmmm, it was so dark I couldn’t really see who was clubbed. I’ll have to watch it again and see if I can tell this time.

come to think of it, there seems to be loads of head clubbing in recent animes. Think magikano as another.
I used to get knuckled rubbed in the head by a jap friend many many years ago. I hope the kids there dont pick up bad habits, lol.

I you’re going to analyze the clubbing, then take a very good look at the one that’s doing the clubbing as well.

Higurashi is by far my fav 2006 anime, ranking in as no. four on my top list (RahXephon, EVA & Nadesico are the first three). The atmosphere in it is unmatched by most. I love it, seen all the first 4 episodes. I’m reeeeally curious to see where it will go from there…

omg i went and rewatched the clubbing.. i saw the hair colors i no who got clubbed =)
