Suzuka 7

Filed under: Futago Hime, Glass Mask, Suzuka — Ren @ 7:28 pm

After the huge rejection in the last episode, things are understandably awkward between Suzuka and Yamato this time around.

I thought the simple piano melody that played while Yamato watched Suzuka stretch and as he reflected on the incident at the amusement park was quite beautiful and appropriate.

When he expressed regret at confessing I wanted to hug him and tell him I thought he was so brave and that he did a good thing. I always think it’s better to be honest and up front about feelings rather than hide them. At least things are out in the open now, and even if he didn’t get the result that he wanted he can only move forward from here on out. At the end of the day if Suzuka is never going to be with him isn’t it better to know sooner rather than later? On the other hand, his confession might help push her in the direction of acknowledging her feelings for Yamato. If neither of them ever said anything they might dance around each other forever and it would only cause them (and us) endless frustration.

Oh, and it’s great that Saotome said something useful for a change instead of just being an annoying drunk. She motivates Yamato to keep on trying, which leads to a humourous moment where he screams at the top of his lungs that he likes Suzuka and he’ll never give up. He yells loud enough that Suzuka hears him through her window and she blushes profusely.

ps. Maybe I was a little too harsh on Suzuka last time around. Mentar is right, it’s clear she feels bad about the way she’s been treating him. But I still think she needs to work on being less mean to him.

pps. I’ve decided to drop Glass Mask and Futago Hime from my blogging list. The subs are coming out way too slow to make it worth it. (In the case of Glass Mask.. they’re just slow, and you can visit Ten-chan over at YSP:Duh! for entries up to the current episode (19) as she watches the raws. In the case of Futago Hime, it’s silly to expect one guy to be able to singlehandledly sub a 52 episode show. He’s done a great job, but he’s got a lot on his plate right now.) I’ll definately be watching if and/or when any more eps come out, but I won’t be blogging them.

Futago Hime 5

Filed under: Futago Hime — Ren @ 10:03 pm

Today it’s time for the second princess party and Camelot is deteremined to have Fine and Rain come home winners. However, the princesses have already left for the Flame Kingdom before she can give them any of her advice and training.

On the way there Rain daydreams about Prince Bright, while Fine daydreams about… food. Out of our two main characters I think I identify more with Fine. Put a cute guy and a chocolate bar in front of me, and you can bet your bottom dollar I’d head for the chocolate first - and it doesn’t even matter that I’m hypoglycemic and can’t have sugar. ^_^

Back to the princess party - the contest this time is for the most beautifully adorned princess. Aren’t our girls lucky that they were given the decor maker in episode 4? When the ultra chibi and kawaii princesses from the seed kingdom express worry that their jewels made from nuts are sadly lacking in the midst of all the glittering jewels around them, Fine and Rain come to the rescue and make beautiful necklaces for them with the decor maker.

But thennnnnnn, Altessa’s necklace is stolen and she accuses the princesses from the seed kingdom. Uck, Altessa. Her attitude is as bloated and unclassy as her hair.

Fine and Rain transform, use their wands, and the search for Altessa’s jewel begins in an attempt to clear the name of the seed kingdom princesses. Eventually it’s found - taken by a fire bird that’s attracted to shiney red objects - and the party continues.

And the winners? None other than the tiny princesses from the seed kingdom. Yatta!! I think they’re my favourite, though Princess Miruro from the water drop kingdom is ultra kawaii too. I’ll have to wait and see more of her personality before I decide. :)

Even though Fine and Rain didn’t win, their princess level still went up. They’ve reached the gold level, which means they’re bona fide chika-chika princesses. (whatever that means)

Futago Hime 4

Filed under: Futago Hime — Ren @ 6:37 pm

Super cute! I adored the scenes of Fine and Rain as little toddlers. I didn’t know it was possible for them to be even more kawaii! What can I say about this series besides the fact that it’s so adorable? If you want a play by play recap of the episode, head on over to Matthew’s blog. I’m not going to bother with that here.

All I’ll say is that when you really need something cheerful and sweet and innocent to brighten your day, Futago Hime is the perfect choice.

Futago Hime 3

Filed under: Futago Hime — Ren @ 8:49 am

Today we start off with the twins hiding from Camelot under their bed avoid studying. Once the coast is clear it’s back to the Flame Kingdom to meet the ultra-kawaii Princess Leonne!

Fine and Rain are introduced to Leonne’s parents and brother. Lol, her brother and dad are kinda scary. Enthusiastic, but well meaning I suppose. :P

It ends up snowing, which of course being the Flame Kingdom is not normal! Leonne’s father decides that the problem is the dragon inside the volcano and that something must be done.

They go to get rid of the dragon, but it turns out the dragon was sick and that’s why all he could spout was smoke instead of fire to keep the kingdom warm. Fine and Rain, with the help of Leonne, help the dragon and the Flame Kingdom is restored!

Fine and Rain’s transformation sequence is just too cute! Man, I wish I could just say a few words and have my hair perfectly curled and find myself in a pretty dress. It would save me soo much time in the morning.

*Gives in a shot* Ran Ran….Ren?

Darn, still in my pjs and my hair’s a mess. Guess I’ll have to stick to the old fashioned way.

Futago Hime 1 & 2

Filed under: Futago Hime — Ren @ 9:41 am

(Caps are only from ep 2)

Ok, I’ve put this off way too long so I’m just gonna chug through it even though I have a million others things to do that I should be focusing on.

Two words describe this series: SUPER CUTE!!

When Matthew started gushing about this series I basically ignored him :P. I’m not usually drawn to cutesy series, and usually gravitate towards stuff that is a bit more serious or has the potential for a deep and moving storyline. But he kept gushing, so much so that he took it upon himself to sub the first two episodes himself. Even though I didn’t have any interest in the series I helped out with distroing the eps.

And then I was sitting here one day and figured since they were sitting on my hard drive I might as well give them a shot.

And now.. I want more!! The princesses are soooooooooo kawaii. I want to hug them and squish them! Hehe. And even if the story is simplisitic, it’s still just plain fun to watch. I encourage everyone to check Futago Hime out. You might get a few cavaties, but they’ll be well worth it.
